The Government has established the State Sports School in the year 1992 to promote the concept of “Catch them young and teach them right” for achieving the excellence in Sports & Academics under the Administrative control of YAT & C (Sports) Department. The main Objective of Telangana State Sports School (TSSS) is to identify the highly potential children who posses inborn qualities viz., Anthropometric, Physical and Physiological Capabilities without any Anatomical Infirmities and to nourish the children with Scientific Training Methods to excel at National and International Competitions by providing Sound Academic background on par with Sports. CAMPUS: The Govt. have allotted the land to the extent of AC.206.05gts. to Telangana State Sports School (TSSS) at Hakimpet (Village), Shameerpet (Mandal), Medchal (District). Presently there are Hostel (144 rooms, 16 Class rooms, 2 Dining halls, 2 Conference halls), Indoor Stadium, 400 Mtrs Track, Archery Ground, Football Ground, Weightlifting hall, Gymnastics hall, Volley ball ground & Condition hall. Efforts are being made to upgrade the infrastructural facilities with the help of Government financial support. SPORTS : Nurturing the students in 11 disciplines i.e. Archery, Athletics, Foot Ball, Fencing, Gymnastics, Judo, Water Sports (Rowing & Sailing and Kayaking & Canoeing), Sepak Takraw, Weightlifting, Volleyball and Conditioning. EDUCATION : 4th class to Sr. Intermediate with State Syllabus (English Medium) FACILITIES : Free Lodging, Boarding, Education, Training, Daily Needs & Tournament Exposure etc., STUDENTS : Presently there are 409 students ( 223 Boys + 186 Girls) Strength : Boys – 225 & Girls 225 Total Strength : 450 STAFF : 69 Staff : (24 in Sports Dept., 13 in Academics Dept., 09 in Administration Dept., 20 in Hostel Dept., & 3 in Medical Dept.,)
