Dalhousie Athletic Club originally started under the name and style of Trades Club prior to its present name and location on the Maidan since 1880.It is this club which was pioneer in championing not only football but also hockey and cricket in the good old days. The Indian Football Association came into being at the initiative of this club. The oldest trophy in football, namely Trades Cup Championship, is still being played and is considered as the oldest trophy in football tournament. In recent time the club is venturing new sporting activities. Facilities for playing dart and tennis were always there in the club along with football, cricket and hockey.
